The swifts and swallows are still chasing each other across the sky, we’re just out of a long, August bank holiday weekend and the days are still light and warm (well, mild), so naturally our thoughts turn to the ‘c-word’; yes, we mean Christmas!
While everyone else is still enjoying the last days of summer, here at Clootie HQ I’m afraid our thoughts have already turned to December. To be fair we have good reason for thinking about this so early. Every year we have to disappoint customers who want to order a wonderful Festive Clootie Dumpling because we’ve simply run out of time.
Clootie Dumplings, particularly our festive ones, take time to create, they can’t simply be thrown together in an afternoon. For example, did you realise we soak cranberries, apricots, sultanas and raisins in fine brandy for a minimum of 4 weeks before adding them to our festive dumplings? So the planning for this is now well underway, it’s our busiest time and we hate having to disappoint anyone.
You can help too. For the first time we’re allowing people to pre-order a Festive Clootie Dumpling for delivery from November 1st. Not only that but you can order it today so you’re guaranteed to have yours well in advance. The only problem you’ll have then is stopping yourself from eating it before the big day! Maybe order two to be on the safe side… (also we’re delighted that for the first time, we’re also making the gluten-free, vegan friendly version of our festive dumpling available for early pre-order as well!)
While we’re on the subject of Christmas we’re also running a couple of very special events on Friday December 22nd. We’re holding a couple of ‘hands-on Christmas Special’ workshops, there’s one in the afternoon and one in the evening. These are great fun and unlike anything you’re likely to have done before. We host them here at Clootie McToot HQ in Abernethy, Perthshire.
As well as a full tour and some refreshments we’ll teach you how to make your very own Clootie Dumpling that you can then take home with you to show off to your friends and family! Everyone seems to really enjoy these events and we love to host them. However, we don’t have a lot of space so numbers are limited. If you’d like to learn more or want to book this for yourself or perhaps give it as a gift for that impossible-to-buy-for-person in your life then you can do all of those things by visiting our website today.
That’s enough talk of Christmas for now, before you find yourself humming Jingle Bells in your head let’s enjoy the last days of summer while we still can.
