Well, it took a while to arrive but there’s no denying that summer has finally shown up. For those fortunate enough to take some holidays while the sun is out, summer can be a great time to try something new, and that’s what we’ve been doing at Clootie McToot. It’s been hot in the Clootie McToot kitchens but hopefully you’ll agree it’s been worth the effort.
Firstly we’ve been beavering away on our new seasonal favourite for August; the Apple, Caramel & Oats Clootie Dumpling. We’ve been working hard on this variety trying to perfect the balance between the caramel and the apple, those distinctive sweet flavours are complemented by the earthy, nuttiness of the oats, we really feel the three flavours combine so well together. Of course oats are recognised as a ‘super food’ so you don’t need to feel guilty about the indulgent caramel! This is a limited edition clootie dumpling and will only be available for a short time, so don’t miss out.
It’s also worth reminding everyone that another of our sweet and fruity favourites is available during August. Our Banana and Toffee Clootie Dumpling is a huge favourite with all the family and if you’ve not had the pleasure of it yet then now is the perfect opportunity to correct that. As clootie dumplings go this is one of our more decadent flavours, perfect for long summer dinners with friends or a mid-afternoon treat on a lazy August day. There’s something wonderful about eating outdoors.
If lazying around isn’t for you and you’re looking for something to do then a trip to the wonderful Blair Horse Trials might be one for your diary. The event takes place in the splendour of the grounds of Blair Castle near the picturesque village of Blair Atholl. I know we’re biased but Perthshire is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world and Blair Castle is an incredible setting. The Blair Horse Trials take place from the 25th to the 28th of August and of course if you do attend please come and say hello to us, we’ll have a presence during the event.
